23-25th October 2024
Sheffield
The G2W: Genomics to Whole-Cell Workshop was held from 23rd to 25th October 2024 in Sheffield. This three-day workshop successfully brought together experts from the genomics, whole cell, and modelling communities to discuss future research topics, including automation and AI, open research and data standards, reproducibility and safety in models, integrative pipelines for multiscale modelling, and multi-model simulations for whole cell modelling. Professor Lucia Marucci (AIBIO-UK) presented the AI and Whole Cell Modelling theme.
Post-Event Impact: Participants appreciated the event’s focus on discussions and the well-organised session structure. The objectives were met, sparking dialogue on the future of structural biology modelling in the UK, with plans for a collaborative paper or even a book. Overall, the event fostered valuable networking and potential collaborations, generating enthusiasm for future joint projects and a possible follow-up workshop. Structured group discussions, complemented by a feedback session, were highlighted as a successful format for gathering diverse insights.
Additionally, AIBIO-UK has awarded £2,500 in funding to support the “G2W: Genomics to Whole-cell” workshop, specifically to assist with food and drinks for the event. For more information about the AIBIO-UK FlexiFund support, please visit the AIBIO-UK Funding page.
